How Do VFFS Machines Work?

As the name suggests, vertical form fill seal machines are suitable for forming single dose bags from a laminate reel, filling them with a product and sealing them.

There are two main types of VFFS depending on the single dose bag to produce:

• 4-side-seal sachet machines
• 3-side-seal stick pack machines

Despite some relevant differences, these machines share all some primary groups:

1. Reel: the reel holder and unwinding system.
2. Feeding: the feeding system, either manual or automatic.
3. Dosing: the appropriate dosing system for the product.
4. Bag formation: the cutting and sealing groups.
5. Coding: the coding system for printing variable data on the film.
6. Bag exit: the conveyor belt or appropriate system to convey the final bags.
7. Electrical cabinet: the cabinet containing electrical equipment.

 

 

 

 

4-side-seal sachet: these vertical continuous motion machines are ideal for producing rectangular and shaped sachets. They come as single and multilane machines for fulfilling the highest production demands.
The production process starts from a laminate reel that is split in 2 equal strips and cut in multiple lanes lengthwise. The different lanes are then sealed vertically and horizontally while filling the newly formed sachet with the product and finally cut accordingly to get the final sachet.

 

3-side-seal stick pack: these vertical intermittent motion machines are ideal for producing convenient, practical and consumer-friendly stick packs. They come as single and multilane machines for fulfilling the highest production demands. The production process starts from a laminate reel that is cut in multiple lanes lengthwise. The different lanes are folded to form the stick packs, sealed vertically and horizontally while filling them with the product and finally cut accordingly to get the final stick pack.
