Universal Pack has been designing and building customized automatic packaging lines for stick packs in cartons for over 60 years.

Our primary packaging machine for stick packs feeds our patented counting and stacking unit, which is fully customizable. The unit then transfers the stick packs to the secondary packaging machine or inserts them directly into the carton in top-loading configurations with flat blanks. With pre-glued cartons, the cartoning machine performs side loading. Our secondary packaging machines insert the leaflet and close the cartons before carton discharge. In addition, we design specifically designed systems for on edge-placement and multi-level cartoning.

We act as a single supplier of custom-built packaging lines. We design and develop the best solution to integrate the primary packaging machine with the cartoning machine, to support high efficiency. When required, we can also integrate third-party machinery into our packaging lines. This feature enhances the flexibility of our machines and lines.

What Do Our Packaging Lines for Stick Packs in Cartons Include?

  • At least one stick pack packaging machine. We configure the machine to produce the stick packs with the required dimensions and doses;
  • Counting and stacking unit. We design this section with many customization options depending on the required counts, stick pack position, including on edge placement, and stick pack transfer. We provide patented systems to fulfill any request, including on edge placement;
  • Secondary packaging machine. There are multiple solutions, which depend on the type of carton requested, pre-glued or flat-blank.

Stick Pack Packaging Machines

We can provide your stick pack machine with any dosing system, according to your needs and depending on the composition of the product. For this reason, we offer:

  • Auger and basculating-cup systems for powders and granules;
  • Gravimetric and flowmeter systems for liquid or semi-liquid products;
  • Piston pumps for liquid, semi-liquid and viscous products.

Counting and Stacking Unit

Universal Pack patented counting and stacking units are completely customizable. They allow the required number of stick packs to be packed into cartons, in your required position. The entire packaging line is flexible, both in the number of stick packs per carton and in their position inside the carton.

Upon request, we can provide our counting and stacking units with a specifically-dedicated patented system to turn ‘on edge’ the stick packs. Then, each row of stick packs is transferred into the pockets of the cartoning machine infeed chain.

Moreover, we can provide our on edge placement system with an additional patented technology installed in the cartoning unit, which allows you to insert stick packs on edge in a two-level box, with or without a separator between the two levels.

Pre-glued cartons

Universal Pack provides cartoning machines for pre-glued cartons equipped with a side-loading system.

After the counting and stacking unit transfers the stick packs to the cartoning station, the packs are inserted from the side of the carton in a precise and efficient way.

This solution can be integrated with key accessories such as dynamic or static checkweighers, leaflet insertion systems with presence check, and tamper-evident labeling machines, creating a complete and reliable secondary packaging process.

Flat blank cartons

For flat blank cartons, Universal Pack provides cartoning machines designed to erect and close cartons from flat blanks.

This solution includes two separate units: one for carton forming and one for carton closing with hot-melt glue. The system is equipped with a top-loading configuration, allowing the counting and stacking unit to insert the stick packs into the cartons from above. As with the pre-glued carton solution, the machine can also be equipped with accessories such as checkweighers, leaflet insertion systems with presence check, and tamper-evident labeling machines.
