The most desirable types of sustainable packaging are (in order):

• compostable (suitable to undergo industrial composting process)
• recyclable (with a high enough percentage to be recycled)
• recycled (coming from materials recovered through recycling processes).

Despite the fact that compostable laminating film represents the most virtuous choice in sustainable packaging for obvious waste recovery reasons, it is not always easy to create a compostable laminate that guarantees a high barrier for the products packed in it (a high barrier is always needed to ensure the product preservation).
