You should consider a complete packaging line when the performance of the entire process (from product dosing to the finished carton) must be managed as one integrated system.

This becomes particularly important when sachets or stick packs need to be automatically counted, grouped, inspected and placed into cartons. Rather than evaluating each machine separately, the complete process is developed around a shared production target, defined pack configuration and required level of automation.

What Is a Complete Packaging Line?

A complete packaging line connects primary packaging equipment with the handling, inspection and secondary packaging systems required to produce a finished pack.

Depending on the application, it may combine:

  • product feeding and dosing;
  • sachet or stick-pack production;
  • counting, stacking and grouping;
  • product transfer and accumulation;
  • vision systems, checkweighers and rejection devices;
  • coding and traceability controls;
  • automatic cartoning;
  • case packing or palletizing.

The final configuration depends on the product, dose, packaging material, pack dimensions, carton format, required output and industry-specific quality requirements.

When Is a Complete Line the Right Choice?

A complete line should be evaluated when one or more of the following conditions apply:

  • Sachets or stick packs must be arranged in a precise configuration inside the carton.

The decision should not be based only on the nominal speed of the primary packaging machine. A high-output machine does not automatically create an efficient line if counting, transfer, inspection or cartoning cannot manage the same production flow.

Complete Packaging Line or Separate Machines?

Standalone machines can remain the right option when volumes are limited, downstream operations are intentionally manual or suitable secondary packaging equipment is already available.

A complete line becomes more relevant when the manufacturer needs predictable interaction between all the production stages rather than maximum performance from one isolated machine.

What Should Be Assessed Before Purchasing?

Before defining the line layout, the project should be evaluated from both a product and a process perspective.

Product and dosing

Density, viscosity, flowability, particle size, sensitivity and cleaning requirements influence the dosing technology and primary packaging configuration.

Sachet or stick-pack format

Dose, dimensions, sealing requirements, packaging material and opening features affect both the packaging machine and downstream product handling.

Carton configuration

The number, orientation and arrangement of the individual packs determine the required counting, stacking, grouping and loading operations.

Required output

The target output should be assessed across the complete line. It is not sufficient to consider only how many sachets or stick packs the primary machine can produce.

Available floor space, material loading, operator access, cleaning, maintenance and finished-product movement must be considered before fixing the line configuration.

Format flexibility

When different products, doses, sachet sizes or carton arrangements are required, changeover procedures and adjustment ranges become central to the investment decision.

Why Is Packaging Line Integration Important?

A complete line is not simply a sequence of machines connected by conveyors.

The value of integration lies in developing dosing, packaging, handling, inspection and cartoning around the same operating conditions. This makes it possible to evaluate line balancing, communication between machines, accumulation capacity and possible bottlenecks before production begins.

For the customer, this means discussing the performance of the complete process, not only the technical specifications of individual machines.

A complete packaging line is generally the right choice when automatic sachet or stick-pack production must be combined with controlled handling, inspection and secondary packaging.

The final decision should consider:

  • target production output;
  • current manual operations;
  • pack and carton configuration;
  • quality-control requirements;
  • available space;
  • required flexibility;
  • future production plans.
